Church of the Holy Spirit
Episcopalians have met in Fall River since 1835. In
1837 the first Church of the Ascension Episcopal
Church was dedicated, the present building was
consecrated on Ascension Day in 1895.
Today we are a parish of 200 members. We include
Episcopalians as well as “transplanted” Catholics,
Methodists, Lutherans, and Presbyterians. About
150 people attend each weekend.
We embrace and cherish all who seek to celebrate
and serve God, regardless of their background or
how often they can attend services. Through
programs and fellowship, we endeavor to serve God
and one another not only on Sunday, but every day
of the week.
About the Episcopal Church
A member of the worldwide Anglican Communion,
which numbers about 70 million people; The
Anglican Communion evolved out of the Church of
England, which was created during the reign of
Henry VIII when the church severed its ties with the
Roman Catholic Church. Our service is based on
The Book of Common Prayer, first published in 1549.
